Puppeteer is a sculpture that remains as a blank resin copy on display in the academy where I studied. It was my final project at the Barcelona Academy of Art, and as such was a mix between an academic study and the start of my own experimentation in interpretation and storytelling.

Puppeteer began as an expression of the disturbing idea that; History has been written by victors—in the blood of the defeated. The figure represented is a man moving forward with one hand raised in an unspecified gesture (of command, of blessing, of greeting, of salute) and the other hand hidden behind him holding a tool that splits the ground beneath. The object he writes with is an unseen and unassuming weapon. We see the figure of a beautiful man, one who displays a command and a charisma that we can easily feel drawn to. The expression on his face is one that is partially of indifference and perhaps bordering on contemptuous. Perhaps we see him as a leader and hold a sense of respect for him or, perhaps we see him as a force that we have no power to control and instead feel a deep-seated fear.
